Aspiration {Inspiration} :: The Life List

by Stephanie

Life list. Bucket list. The BIG to-do list.

As I was walking from class to the gym this afternoon, I passed a poster on the quarter mile with the following:

“The purpose of life is a life of purpose.”  -Robert Byrne

What a nice pick-me up.  A little bit of inspiration for a tired Tuesday afternoon was just what I needed.  It got me thinking about all the things I want to do in life.  Silly, insignificant things, but also the really big, momentous stuff -  the points in time that define your life.

I’m sure you’ve seen the bucket lists people create on Pinterest and tumblr, and I thought it would be nice to have an ongoing list of my own.

The following are just a few things I am determined to complete before I die:

Stephanie’s Life List

  • Graduate College
  • Obtain a Dietetic Internship
  • Pass the RD exam
  • Get my Master’s
  • Become a CDE
  • Learn Spanish
  • Start my own business
  • Write for a magazine
  • Spend a summer on the beach
  • Learn to cook without a recipe
  • Buy a DSLR and learn how to use it
  • Make homemade wine
  • Become financially independent
  • Buy a house
  • Give back to my parents
  • Tour around Europe
  • Complete a triathalon
  • Get married
  • Start a family
  • Visit the Pyramids
  • Go to India

  • Go on a cruise
  • Visit Disney World
  • Make homemade sushi
  • Kiss under the misteltoe
  • Be a bridesmaid

  • Have a crazy night in Vegas

I’ve added a page for this because I think it’s important to be reminded of your goals.  Keep checking back for additions + watch me conquer items one by one!

What’s on your list?

BodyRock in the House Tonight

by Stephanie

As I’ve mentioned (a few times), I am doing the BodyRock.tv 30 day challenge.  I’m a little behind the main group – just starting in on week 3.  But I gotta tell ya – I’m lovin’ it! (bah-dah-ba-ba-bah)

This morning we repeated the fit test (50 seconds on, 10 seconds rest) we completed on day 1, and in most areas I am getting stronger! Woopwoop!

Week 1

Exercise Reps
Squat Jumps 35
Push-ups 29
Burpees 15
High Knees 114
Switch Lunges 23
Tuck Jumps 22
Sit-ups 27

And then 2 weeks later:

Week 3

Exercise Reps
Squat Jumps 40
Push-ups 29
Burpees 16
High Knees 141
Switch Lunges 33
Tuck Jumps 24
Sit-ups 26

Not bad for 2 weeks strength gains.

I’m pretty pleased.  I think I could probably push myself to go a little faster on the squat jumps, burpees, & push-ups. Something to focus on.  Plus, I know that the loss of single sit-up is not a huge deal, but when I started this challenge I was doing pilates daily.  Perhaps that’s something I need to add back in every once in a while.

I also really need to start incorporating more cardio into my life once again – not that BodyRock doesn’t get my heart rate going – I am just craving that peaceful mental space that only a long run provides.

Time to get ready for class. We got dumped on last night, so I am sure my ride to school is going to be a beast.

I’ll leave you with a little Monday Motivation.

Sick.

Crush it.

Aspiration {Inspiration} :: Run

by Stephanie

I can’t get enough of this quote.

There are as many reasons for running as there are days in the year, years in my life. But mostly I run because I am an animal and a child, an artist and a saint. So, too, are you. Find your own play, your own self-renewing compulsion, and you will become the person you are meant to be. ~George Sheehan

At the half-way point in Lake Placid.

Ever since I found where I’m going to run next race, hitting the pavement is all I can think about!

It’s prompted me to finally get my running page up.  Check it out, yo!

Oh! And don’t forget to take my survey on social media use!

Peace Out!

And the Survey Says…

by Stephanie

Good afternoon, gangstas.

Hope you had a lovely Friday night.

This was me at around 7:30pm…

I was one tired, lame puppy.

Today is going to be dedicated to cleaning, running errands, case studies, and eating delicious Nino’s Pizza with the boy toy. YES. Excellent Saturday.

Moving on.

I need your help!

I may or may not have mentioned that I am working on my Senior Project, the topic being Social Media Use and It’s Impact on the Circulation of Nutrition Information.

I’ve been doing a lot of research, and now it’s time to collect some data.

This is where you come in.

I would love you forever and ever if you took my short, 10 question survey.

WOOHOO!

You now have the satisfaction of helping a poor girl get her degree.

I am forever grateful.

This is not the survey. :)

And don’t worry. It’s completely anonymous and there are no incriminating questions.

Good Day to You.

Delirium

by Stephanie

THANK GAWD IT’S FRIDAY!

This is my plan for tonight: Ignoring reality. That is, after I get off of work at the gym and do my homework for HR… grrr.

I need to shake off some stress, baby!

Okay. Bad joke.  But I am so slap-happy that everything is amusing to me.

I had my MNT II (Medical Nutrition Therapy) midterm today.  And if you follow me on twitter (why aren’t you following me on twitter yet?), you’d have read that the exam SUCKED.

I went from brainiac to birdbrain in the matter of 2 hours. Do’h! Such is life, I suppose. I’m a fairly good test taker, so hopefully I didn’t do as bad as I thought.  BTW, isn’t brainiac an awesome word?  I really should start using that more often.

Welp, my birdbrain is fried now, so this is about as much as you’re gonna get out of me today.

Sorry about that.

Happy Friday, BRAINIACS!
