“There are as many reasons for running as there are days in the year, years in my life. But mostly I run because I am an animal and a child, an artist and a saint. So, too, are you. Find your own play, your own self-renewing compulsion, and you will become the person you are meant to be.” -George Sheehan
Isn’t that beautiful and amazing? How could you not want to lace up your running sneakers and get out there?
These are a few of my favorite running resources:
Follow Me!
I track my workouts on Daily Mile. It’s a great site for runners, cyclists, yogis, crossfitters, and all other exercise lovers! Currently, I am doing the BodyRock.tv 30 Day Challenge, so my page has been a little sparse, but keep an eye out for new workouts coming soon!
Training Plans
For my first two marathons, I followed Hal Higdon’s Novice Marathon Training Schedule. It’s pretty straightforward and a good place to start if you are thinking about running your first full marathon. For my second (and now third!) half, I bumped up the intensity with Cool Running’s Intermediate Plan. There are plenty of other sites out there with great training plans, as well. I also encourage you to check out Runner’s World for all things running! Keep checking back for new ones!
Nutrition
Check out my post on eating right while training for a marathon! Lots of great stuff there!
Tunes
Now that you’ve got a training plan it’s time to make a playlist for you iPod. I’ve created a youtube channel with what’s being pumped into my ears. Check it out for some inspiration!
